WCSS Team Wins Gold Medal in the 8th China International College Students’ ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
The team from WCSS, Sichuan University, was awarded the gold medal in the national final of the 8th China International College Students’ ‘Internet+’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, held online at Chongqing University from 11th to 13th , November 2022.
The project, completed by 14 students from WCSS, led by yijia Yin, and instructed by Professor Ding Bai, Xianglong Han, Chaoran Xue and Xuedong Liang, entitled “AI+ Orthodontics Brightens the Smile of Rural Teenagers” aims to help young rural people receive timely and high-quality orthodontic treatment close to home. By supporting primary medical centers such as county hospitals and reducing the technical sensitivity of orthodontic treatment, the project integrates an AI software, a set of hardware, and a support program, to ensure the sustainability of rural assistance. The young students from WCSS inherit the ‘red gene’ of CPC by venturing outside of the university, tying their hearts to the grassroots, and eventually, making their own contribution to the construction of Healthy China.
The ‘Internet+’ Competition, held by the Ministry of Education, is the most influential innovation and entrepreneurship competition for university students in China. The 8th ‘Internet+’ Competition had 14.5 million participants and 3.4 million projects hailing from 111 countries and regions.
